Members of the Moultonborough Women's Club making meat balls for the up coming Kentucky Derby Party Saturday, May 5
Yes, there will be horse betting, yes, there will be dancing, yes, there will be games before the race, yes, it's a BYOB and yes, there will be delicious food. It's finally coming and will take place this Saturday, May 5, at the Moultonborough Community Hall (formerly Lions Club) on Old Rt 109S. Doors open at 5:00 so get set to bet on the Kentucky Derby and view the race via a large screen and several smaller TV's, that technician expert Tom Funke has set up. It's custom for the ladies to wear hats to this horsey event and we encourage ladies to decorate a hat and compete in a contest, which is optional. Men can decorate their bow ties. This is a first Derby Party for MWC and is a huge challenge for organizers Eloise Post and Carol Bamberry. Not much fazes these ladies, who often chair huge events to enhance our scholarship coffers and donate to other worthy causes. They, with a large committee of dedicated, eclectic group have been meeting weekly to make lovely table decorations and plan games to play before the Derby begins. Background music will play until the games are over, than dancing takes over.
Time to get out and have some fun with your partner and friends all for $20 and by golly, it's a BYOB, which couldn't be better. There will be a variety of unique appetizers, followed by a summer inspired buffet, ending with scrumptious famous southern cakes; such as a hummingbird cake. A silent auction will also take place with several beautiful baskets filled with articles to enhance and a lot of other interesting items to peruse. Don't miss this FUN event. Time: 5 pm to 9 pm. Tickets will be sold at the door.
